If you have the ability to read and you don't go and increase your knowledge, you won't have any advantage over people who can't read.
For me, I am someone who is always trying to increase my knowledge, be it about plants to human to life to work, etc. I love knowledge, it just fills in the gaps of my why is it like this. All the whys in me, like why is the sky blue, it's blue because of the refraction of light. I often go to Wikipedia and read anything that I could find, just linking from this topic to another. Sometimes it mind fucks me though, like special relativity. That topic such is hard to grasp! I like watching documentaries too, especially documentaries concerning animals and plants. I wanna be a plant! Anyway knowledge is power!
